Bad luck, Sajith... and crappy judging!

Watch the following dance from Thakadhimi.

Wow! one of the best on-stage dances you have ever seen right? But he didnt get selected for the competition! Why? He should really have been selected. I believe the judges made a mistake in his case.

I thought I was the only one who thinks so! But now I know better. This post is to criticise the judging.
Let's start by watching this -
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hokOGnjKTfw

That's Justin Timberlake dancing. See any expression on his face? NO! The feel of that song is kalippu... know what I mean?! The song is not about flashing ur smile and dancing (!) with ur eyebrows. It's all about the awe-inspiring steps and the finishing of those steps. So if Justin came for competing in Thakadhimi, the judges would keep him in wait list too, cos his dance lacks naadya or abhinaya (or whatever they call it)!
(Justin is a world-renowned dancer too besides being the singer of the last song to which Sajith dances)

The prob is that all the judges are classical dancers. They should have called a break dancer as one judge too. Cos in western dance, smiling aint 90% of the performance.

I feel so sorry for Sajith. He was one of the best.

(Another good participant who got trashed was Swathy. Watch her dance too in youtube.)

And I really think that Vineeth wanted to select him. He appreciated him a lot.
But what about the other judges?

Laxmi - "There's no joy in the eyes"...
Damn... What the heck... Like asking an actor playing a vampire to smile during horror scene... or does she want him to smile like Krishna and bring joy into his eyes and shake his brows while doing a breakdance number on the theme of seduction?!
Appreciate him for chrissakes... :(

But I think Gopika Verma was sleeping durin the whole session. Why?
1) She told him she liked the starting part of his dance and then she said "You know U did This..." and showed a step which was actually a step done by another dancer Nithin!!! Ya! That's horrible? There's more!

2) What's the reason she gave for not liking Sajith's dance? She said "That's why, like Vineeth said, ur dance lacked the fine cuts" when actually the main thing that Vineeth appreciated about his dance was that the cuttings were perfect in his dance. (If U didnt notice all this, watch again! I know, cos I watched this vid some 20-30 times already!)

What the heck is all this? Why such careless unjust judging?

In Idea Star Singer, a singer is evaluated by his/her dance performance, and that's the reason why Chitra, one of the best singers ever, criticized that the name of the program should be changed to Idea Star Performer!!!

And now in Thakadhimi, the judges are giving more...errr... most importance to the naadya/abhinaya/i-dunno-the-exact-word and classical aspects of the dance.

I think this situation could have been prevented by inviting a break-dancer as one of the judges. Then Sajith would never have gone into the waiting list.

Leave your comments.
Cheers.

A Fun Fact

Search for Ash Meister in google, and ma blog comes on top.
Search for sudeep.elayidom and Milf's blog comes first!! Go figure!

The reason?
He had posted some Java applet program in his blog and a line from the code has Sudeep sir's name in it -

str = "Special Thanks to:- Mr. Sudeep Elayidom, ";

And he told me that Sudeep sir got into his blog by the same method! So, sir was apparently searching for himself... Weird?
First I thought so too. But then, I wanted to search for myself in google too!

U wanna try it too, right? ;)

A song that will melt ya!

Hey, It's been long since I posted anything.
That's cos I kinda lost maself in torrents ;)
Today, I got into blogger cos Cran wanted me to check out his updates to his blog. In one of his posts, he has spoken a lot about how hard rock music soothed his stressed out mind. All the songs he has mentioned are English ones.

And that brings us to why I'm writing this apparently useless post. I want to talk about one Malayalam song that soothed ma mind, and will surely melt yours...

Iniyum... Maunamo...
From the film Notebook.

Real sooooftt. And it really touches your heart.
This is one of those rare songs which really made me cry. Everytime I hear it, my heart aches, I dunno why.
I believe the song is in Harikaamboji Raga. It's actually a pleasant sounding raga. But I still feel like crying (no, I'm not a wuss, silly!). Maybe the slow beat, maybe the violin pattern, maybe the rain in the beginning, or maybe the story of the movie.

Hear it. And Cry :P
